Tony brings over 20 years of aesthetic experience and mentors other dentists within the SmileFast team.
Our cosmetic work has been published internationally, and we teach the conservative techniques we use to improve patients’ smiles. That experience helps us integrate whitening with tooth straightening, composite bonding and carefully matched restorations.
We usually provide home whitening using custom trays and an overnight gel prescribed for that purpose. This gradual approach allows us to adjust treatment around your response and comfort.
For patients with sensitivity, we can arrange specially ordered lower-strength gels, adjust the frequency or duration of use, and recommend desensitising measures where appropriate. This can sometimes make whitening manageable when a previous approach was uncomfortable or unsuccessful.
We also assess individual dark teeth, including those affected by trauma or previous root canal treatment. Suitable root-treated teeth may benefit from internal whitening, potentially avoiding the need to cover the tooth with a veneer.

Who Is Teeth Whitening Suitable For?
Whitening may suit adults who want to lighten their natural teeth, address discolouration or prepare for other aesthetic treatment.
Existing fillings, crowns and veneers do not necessarily prevent whitening, but they will not change colour with the natural teeth. We can plan whitening first, allow the shade to stabilise and then discuss replacing visible restorations if needed to achieve a close colour match. Any additional treatment and costs are explained beforehand.
We also support patients whose dental appearance affects their confidence or causes distress. For people affected by eating disorders such as bulimia, our priority is a compassionate assessment, stabilising erosion and sensitivity, and coordinating care where needed. Whitening may form part of a wider dental plan when appropriate.
For patients under 18, whitening is considered only within the permitted exception for treatment or prevention of disease, following individual assessment. Cosmetic concern or anxiety alone does not establish that exception.

What Does Teeth Whitening Treatment Involve?
Internal whitening of a suitable root-treated tooth follows a different process. The dentist checks the root filling and protective seal before placing whitening material inside the tooth, with review appointments to monitor the change.
How Long Does Teeth Whitening Take?
Many patients notice improvement within the first one or two weeks, but the full course may take longer.
Naturally dark teeth, longstanding internal staining and lower-strength programmes can require additional time. Individual dark teeth also vary in their response.
We’ll explain the likely timescale and review progress. The aim is an appropriate improvement achieved at a pace your teeth tolerate comfortably.

Maintaining Your Whitening Results
Regular examinations, hygiene care and effective daily cleaning help maintain a healthy, brighter smile.
Colour can gradually change again with age and staining habits. Occasional top-ups may be appropriate, but these should follow your dentist’s advice rather than an unrestricted whitening routine.
Keep your trays clean and bring them to reviews if their fit changes. We’ll advise on suitable maintenance gel, sensitivity management and when further assessment is needed.
