Iman came to Start Smiling because she felt self-conscious about her smile and wanted to feel more confident when socialising. Although her teeth were healthy and relatively straight, she felt they looked uneven, chipped and unbalanced.
At 24 years old, Iman wanted a conservative approach and was keen to avoid unnecessary preparation of her natural teeth. She was also cautious about quick-fix cosmetic treatment and wanted clear advice on an option that could enhance her smile while preserving tooth structure where possible.

We explained how a minimally invasive approach could be used to add thin layers of tooth-coloured composite to enhance and better balance the shape of her teeth. This technique, known as SmileFast, also allowed Iman to see an indicative preview through a process called a trial smile.
A trial smile uses a planned mould to temporarily place the proposed shape over the teeth, helping the patient visualise how the final result may look before deciding whether to proceed.

Iman was pleased with the trial smile and chose to go ahead with the SmileFast process a few weeks later. Her treatment involved whitening first, followed by carefully placed composite to improve the balance, shape and appearance of her upper front teeth.
In Iman’s case, the composite stage took around 90 minutes to complete and did not involve drilling her natural teeth.
